EMS training
EMS Training 2
Local emergency management services (EMS) and other first responders took part in special training May 4 at the Kershaw County Government Center learning to deal with patients suffering from difficult airway problems. In these two pictures, personnel showed off what they already knew about dealing with difficult airways using special mannequins -- which reproduce the swelling and constriction of blocked airways as well as lung sounds -- aboard Palmetto Health and the University of South Carolina Medical School’s mobile SimLab. Paid for by a Duke Endowment grant, the training included classroom instruction after which personnel returned to the lab to see how well they’d learned new techniques.
