Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) crews arrived at the scene of a reported kitchen fire at Sherwood Apartments around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to find only a light haze of smoke, but no fire. According to a LF-R press release, an automatic fire extinguisher magnetically attached to the stove hood had activated and extinguished the grease fire before it spread into the rest of the kitchen and apartment. The automatic extinguishers are known as “Fire Stop.”
