Former city employee dies after house fire

A former city of Camden Department of Public Works employee, Barbara Currie, 72, of White Pines Circle, Camden, died Thursday from injuries suffered in a house fire on Saturday, March 31. According to a press release issued by Kershaw County Coroner David West, Currie died Thursday evening from carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation. West said Kershaw County Fire Service (KCFS) responded to the house fire in east Camden around 12:15 p.m. March 31.
