Joe Floyd retires after nearly 25 years as chief of Camden Police Department
Joe Floyd
Joe Floyd will officially retire as chief of the Camden Police Department on Feb. 1.
Joe Floyd started his first job in law enforcement in Sumter in August of 1972, reaching the rank of major. Twenty years later, in 1992, he left to take his first chief of police job in Laurens. Floyd held that post for two years and, due to family matters, wanted to return to his home ground and became the chief deputy of the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, which included managing the jail.
