Cheryl Jones walked into the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) training room May 22 thinking she was going to be giving an award, not getting one. Jones, former president of the Kershaw County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) did present a plaque of appreciation to the KCSO’s traffic enforcement unit. What Jones didn’t know was that her chance to thank them for their efforts to curb DUIs on the county’s streets, highways and I-20 served as a chance for them to thank her for her support of those efforts.
