Deputies interview person of interest
This home on U.S. 1 near Richardson Boulevard in Lugoff was the scene of the first of two fire calls answered by Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning. The second was on Wildwood Lane. The LF-R, Kershaw County Sheriffs Office (KCSO) and S.C. State Law Enforcement Division investigators have determined the fires were intentionally set, according to LF-R Chief Dennis Ray. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) and S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have joined forces to investigate two suspicious fires in Lugoff that have been determined to be arsons. The KCSO sought a “person of interest” thought to have information about the two fires. Thursday afternoon, Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said that person had contacted law enforcement.
