KCSO reports successful night of alcohol compliance checks

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews reported some good news this week, as a series of alcohol compliance checks Monday night resulted in no citations issued to businesses for selling to underage customers. In a concentrated effort to fight underage alcohol and tobacco sales, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) routinely performs compliance checks in which an underage buyer, under KCSO supervision, enters a business and tries to make a purchase. If the clerk asks for identification, the youth provides their legitimate card showing their true age.
