During a preliminary hearing on March 8, the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office dropped two counts of kidnapping against Christopher Lewis Tyler, 39, of Spears Creek Road, Lugoff. Tyler is the man accused of walking into Circle K gas stations at the corner of DeKalb and Mill streets and on North Broad Street in Camden on January 24 and attempting to rob them by claiming an associate was in an SUV with firearms. In the first case, clerks at the scene refused to cooperate; in the second case, a clerk believed Tyler and handed him an undisclosed amount of money.
