The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) are concerned about the growing number of alcohol-related traffic deaths in the state and in Kershaw County. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews recently reported that the number of arrests by his deputies for driving under the influence (DUI) were up in 2013 and, with those, DUI fatalities. “The public is not aware of what’s going on and the public needs to know,” Matthews said.
