A lightning strike to the roof of a Lachicotte Road, Lugoff home during a strong Sept. 4 thunderstorm started a fire, according to a Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) press release. LF-R crews responded to the fire around 11:40 p.m. According to LF-R Chief Dennis Ray, someone living in the home reported the smell of smoke inside. LF-R Engine 10 arrived on the scene to find smoke and fire coming from the attic area of the home.
