Lightning kept firefighters busy during Wednesday afternoon’s severe thunderstorms, causing at least two house fires and producing smoke at a third home. According to Kershaw County Director of Safety and Emergency Services Gene Faulkeberry, the worst fire happened on Duck Cove off Lakeshore Drive near S.C. 97 in the Beaver Creek area. “When crews arrived, they found power lines still arcing, so they had to take two different approaches to attack,” Faulkenberry said.
