Kershaw County residents are now provided better emergency response with the recent formation of the Special Operations Team, a cooperative effort between the Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Department and the Kershaw County Fire Service. The team specializes in accidents involving hazardous materials, unusual rescues and other unique situations. LF-R Battalion Chief Chris Spitzer said the 20 team members were handpicked from the best firefighters around the county and had to receive extra training for the situations they may encounter.
