Lugoff man arrested for child sex abuse material

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies and investigators assisted Homeland Security agents and a Lancaster County investigator -- all as members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force -- arrested Derrell Timothy Coates, 31, of Lugoff, on April 30. Coates is charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment; one count of first-degree attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment; and two counts of attempted disseminating obscene material to a person under age 18, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.
