Man leads deputies on 30-mile chase

During the early morning hours Saturday, Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies arrested Rasheed Timothy Sumpter, 25, of Bishopville, following a lengthy high speed pursuit which began in Kershaw County and ended up in Lee County. According to a KCSO press release, deputies charged Sumpter with failure to stop for a blue light, malicious injury to personal property, resisting arrest and DUI. At approximately 2:45 a.m. Saturday, a KCSO deputy saw Sumpter driving a Ford Expedition in a reckless manner. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, but Sumpter fled after the deputy activated his blue lights and siren.
