Nickolas Jermaine Miller, 26, was supposed to face a jury in February 2016 for abducting Hope Roscoe Melton, 30, of Chesterfield County, on Dec. 26, 2011, and bringing her to Kershaw County where he raped and killed her by beating her with a baseball bat. He was supposed to face the death penalty. Instead, Miller plead guilty Wednesday and will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
