Law enforcement located a missing Camden woman in Florence County early Thursday.

Florence County deputies found Norma Jean Aveyard, 63, on U.S 378 after her vehicle ran out of gas, according to Camden Police Department (CPD) Chief Joe Floyd.

Aveyard disappeared after leaving a friend’s house on Lyttleton Street around midday Tuesday driving a gray 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Floyd said several people tried unsuccessfully to contact her.

CPD officers traveled to Florence to pick Aveyard up and transported her to KershawHealth where, as of Thursday afternoon, she was receiving medical treatment. Floyd said the CPD has also contacted the S.C. Department of Social Services (DSS) due to concerns over Aveyard’s welfare. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Floyd said Aveyard was still in the hospital but that DSS had taken over the case.

He said Aveyard lives with a family member at their residence outside the city limits.
