The body of a 44-year-old Lugoff man that went missing after he fell out of his boat into the Wateree River was found late Monday afternoon. Michael Thompson fell out of his boat into the Wateree River around 11 p.m. Saturday after he and a female friend hit debris in the river, according to Camden Fire Department Chief John Bowers, who also acts as director the Camden-Kershaw County Rescue Squad (C-KCRS). After the boat overturned, the woman was able to get back into the boat and was eventually found by a fisherman she and Thompson had reportedly talked with briefly before starting upstream, Bowers said.
