During Camden City Council’s May 23 meeting, council unanimously proclaimed May as Mental Health Month in Camden. Camden Police Department (CPD) Chief Joe Floyd used that fact later in the meeting when reporting on crime and other statistics to point out how mental health issues are cropping up more often in cases his officers report. One of the statistics Floyd reported was a 133 percent jump in robberies from nine in 2015 to 21 in 2016.
