An 88-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after sustaining injuries in a head-on collision in Camden earlier in the day. Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers said Lilly Bass, 88, of Monroe, N.C., died of blunt force trauma around 5:15 p.m. Thursday at a Columbia hospital to which she had been airlifted. Fellers said the accident took place around noon Thursday on U.S. 521 just north of Boykin Road when, according to the Camden Police Department (CPD), a commercial truck drove into traffic on Edinburg Castle Lane to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him, but subsequently hit an SUV traveling south.
