Pickup, bus crash sends two to area hospitals

A pickup truck is crushed between a school bus and some trees off the side of I-20 eastbound between Lugoff and Camden near the rest area. Lugoff Fire-Rescue crews said the two vehicles collided, drove off the highway and into the trees. Crews extricated the driver of the pickup; a helicopter transported him to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Two drivers sustained injuries Thursday evening on I-20 when a pickup truck and school bus collided, drove off the highway and into nearby trees. According to Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Chief Dennis Ray, the crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. near mile marker 94 eastbound near the rest area. LF-R crews arrived to find a Ford pickup truck with the driver trapped inside.
