Although it is working with the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) to improve communications, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) believes district officials may have violated state law in failing to inform deputies of an incident at Pine Tree Hill Elementary School (PTHS). The incident took place Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5, not Thursday as first reported by school officials. KCSD officials confirmed Friday that a male fourth-grade PTHS student showed a BB gun to a fellow student around dismissal time Sept. 5.
