Rescue personnel search for missing boater on river

Family and friends of a missing Sumter County man gathered at Patriots Landing on the Wateree River Sunday as Camden-Kershaw County Rescue Squad (C-KCRS) and S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) personnel searched for the missing boater. Camden Fire Department Deputy Chief Phil Elliott said the man went missing around 5 p.m. Saturday. DNR’s J.E. Shean Coates, who was on the scene underneath the U.S. 1 bridge Sunday afternoon, said the agency got the call around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
