SCHP, Crimestoppers seek information on fatal hit and run

The S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) and Crimestoppers are seeking any information regarding a fatal hit and run on Blaney Road in which a pedestrian was possibly struck by a vehicle. The collision took place some time before 3 a.m. today on Blaney Road near U.S. 1 and the Richland County line.

Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers identified the victim as 50-year-old Derk Lawrence Maricle of Lugoff.

A vehicle of interest has now been identified as a low-profile "tuner" car with damaged black ground effects. The vehicle may also have damage to the front and hood area.
