Sheriff offers tips following rash of auto break-ins

A Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) patrol car belonging to an investigator who lives in Lugoff’s Pepper Ridge subdivision was one of 16 automobile break-ins reported Tuesday morning. The break-ins in or near the subdivision off U.S. 1 across from Lugoff Elgin High School are just the latest in a long string of such incidents that have been reported during the last four months. Another 25 took place April 4 and 7, as reported in the Chronicle-Independent’s crime report Wednesday.
