In his own words, Camden Police Department (CPD) Detective James Heming describes his recent win in the Open Class Revolver Championship at the South Carolina Police Combat League’s Palmetto State Classic Pistol Competition as, “Truly a highlight in my career -- with years of shooting competition under my belt it is amazing to me that I was able to come out on top of 68 other competitors in the main event revolver match, and then to be able to win first place in the Two-Man Team competition with teammate Earl Berry was more than exciting, to say the least.” Heming and Berry, a CPD constable, both work in investigations and have known each other for many years. Berry retired from the Sumter Police Department in 2009, after 44 years in active law enforcement.
