Deputies take to race track to reduce crashes during high speed chases

“There’s going to be some embarrassing moments out there today,” Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department (KCSO) Captain Ed Corey said with a laugh as one of his deputies plowed through the dirt and grass at Carolina Motorsports Park. Sheriff’s deputies were at the track Thursday as part of high-speed training exercises, a first for county deputies. Deputies had to tackle several challenges, including the “skid-pad” -- a circular track where deputies attempted emergency driving techniques, including skid control.
