Weekend, Monday marred by drowning, traffic fatalities

A drowning death and two traffic fatalities made for an unfortunately busy time for law enforcement, fire-rescue crews and the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office during the last few days. Kershaw County Deputy Coroner Phil McLeod said he answered 10 death-related calls since taking over Thursday morning for vacationing Coroner David West. Among the calls, the accidental drowning of a 1-year-old girl in east Camden on Saturday.
