Few chairmen have had to confront the issues Joseph Dorton Jr. did in his three years as chairman of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees. The now former chairman has spent the past nine years helping shape the Kershaw County School District (KCSD). Dorton’s participation and commitment to the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and help chaperoning various events at Lugoff-Elgin Elementary School was recognized with a nomination to the board in 2004 to replace Aline Branham, who left in the middle of her term.
