ATEC refurbishes helicopter
ATEC Helicopter - Group
U.S. Army Brigadier Gen. Troy Kok, deputy commanding general for Army Recruiting (center) leads a group of Applied Technology Education Campus (ATEC) students, elected officials, veterans and others Tuesday in shouting “Ooh Rah!” to welcome “Lena,” an Army AH-1F Cobra helicopter students recently finished restoring. “Lena” is named for singer and actress Lena Horne, whom Kok said devoted her time to supporting the armed forces. ATEC’s 33 auto collision, welding, digital art and design and graphic design students collectively worked for more than 1,000 hours to refurbish “Lena,” which saw action in Viet Nam, Desert Storm and Bosnia.
