An attempt by Kershaw County Board of Trustees Chairman Ron Blackmon to provide more money to North Central area elementary schools failed 3-6 Tuesday. As he promised at the board’s May 3 meeting, Blackmon made a motion to increase the amount being set aside to the North Central schools as part of a proposed bond referendum from $3 million to $12.7 million. Blackmon received support from trustees Kim DuRant and Louis Clyburn, as well as two parents who spoke during public comment.
