Grief counselors were dispatched to Blaney Elementary School (BES) Wednesday after a 10-year-old student died of an asthma attack at a Columbia-area hospital Tuesday. Carissa Stover was a fifth-grader at BES. “We found out that she was near passing at 10 or 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. At about 2 p.m., the entire fifth grade was brought together to talk about it, which was a good thing,” said Kershaw County School District (KCSD) Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan.
