The more than 30 students from Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central high schools and Camden Military Academy (CMA) participating in this school year’s Junior Leadership of Kershaw County (JLKC) program chose CMA cadet Thomas Azrelyant as the recipient of the Robert J. “Bob” Sheheen Outstanding Student of the Year Award. Thomas also happened to be CMA’s choice to represent the school when giving speeches at the JLKC’s graduation dinner April 28 at the historic Robert Mills Courthouse. As JLKC Steering Committee Chairperson Laurie Parks explained, the Sheheen award is given to the student who can “best demonstrate good attendance, is willing to participate in all activities, demonstrates leadership with a positive attitude, makes an effort to include others and encourage participation, takes on added responsibilities and shows examples of leadership in their school and their community.”
