Combs earns USC President's List recognition

Elizabeth Combs of Camden has completed her freshman year at the University of South Carolina with a 4.0 grade point average and was named to the President’s List.

A clinical psychology major, she is a graduate of Camden High School and the daughter of Gist and Bridget Combs.


Several local students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at Limestone College.

The Dean’s List is comprised of full-time students receiving the grade of “A” in all of their courses. Those named to the Dean’s List included Stacy Case of Elgin, Velvet DeVors of Camden, Roland Hill of Elgin and Patricia Moak of Lugoff.


Jennifer L. Strater, daughter of Lori Strater of Elgin and Terrance Strater of Spring Lake, received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College May 20, concluding the college’s 200th year.

Strater, who graduated with a degree in computer science, now joins an alumni body of more than 20,000, many of whom have made important contributions to business, the professions, government and the arts.


Limestone College conferred more than 300 degrees during its spring commencement exercises May 10-12 in the college’s Fullerton Auditorium.

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, honored the following students for academic excellence during the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.

Dean’s List recognition is given to those students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work.

Joshua Bonner Funderburk of Lugoff, Civil Engineering major.
