Former CMS site to be reassessed
old cms 1
Soil and grass will be added to the land that used to house the old Camden Middle School, located on Laurens Street, Camden. The value of the land will be reassessed without the recently demolished school building. Although the land will be listed for sale, Kershaw County School District is considering using the land for future Phase II projects. Phase II is a part of the Facilities Equalization Program; Phase I began in 2006 with the approval of a $102 million budget that allowed KCSD to complete 13 major projects and numerous miscellaneous projects. - photo by Miciah Bennett
The old Camden Middle School will be listed for sale in few weeks after a minor beautification process and a reassessment of its value. Kershaw County School District’s (KCSD) Director of Operations Billy Smith said as soon as the property dries out they will bring in dirt and plant grass to beautify the property. Demolition of the old school that used to sit on the property will require the district to have the land value reassessed, Smith said.
