School Board 1 042420
In this still shot from Tuesday’s live streamed Kershaw County Board of School Trustees meeting, Trustee Todd McDonald (front, far left) asks if it would be possible for the district to allow its three high schools -- Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central -- to their proms during the summer. McDonald was responding to Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins’ announcement that proms would have to be canceled due to the continuing spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus. Robbins later said the administration would be willing to look into McDonald’s idea, but said outcomes would depend on what is happening with COVID-19.
During a late morning press conference Wednesday, S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster and State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman announced that public K-12 schools will remain closed through the end of the academic year.
