KCSD adjusts after millage increase denial

Kershaw County Council’s denial of Kershaw County School District’s (KCSD) millage increase request may leave some wondering how the district will proceed financially and its impact on students. Several weeks after KCSD presented their request to council and then sent a referendum to the county auditor, council denied the district’s request for a 4.7 millage increase, approximately $500,000 annually, to make up for the loss of funds at the state level. Now on the heels of the denied request from Kershaw County’s local government, the district will have to defer all maintenance projects until next budget year.
