KCSD may swap iPads for new device

After nearly one full school year of testing Apple’s iPad 2 at the ninth-grade level, Kershaw County School District (KCSD) stakeholders are recommending a different device for next year’s ninth and 10th graders. Various surveys and feedback from the district’s “stakeholders” -- teachers, district office personnel, school administrators and students -- discussed at Tuesday night’s Kershaw County Board of School Trustees meeting, have led the board to believe that iPads are not the best option moving forward. The board is likely to vote in the future to purchase Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) ElitePad 900s -- a Windows system that mixes touch-screen technology with laptop capabilities.
