KCSD on two-hour delay again Friday

At 5:44 p.m., the KCSD issued the following statement:

Kershaw County School District schools will open on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, January 31.  This precaution is being taken because of black ice that may develop due to melting and refreezing overnight.  Administrators and maintenance employees should report to work at their normal time.  All other staff should report two hours later than they normally do. Morning preschool and morning 4-year-old kindergarten students will not attend school tomorrow.

A two-hour delay means that buses will pick students up two hours later than they normally do.  Students should arrive at school two hours later than they normally do.  (Please note that students should not report at their normal time because there will not be adequate adult supervision.)

School district administrators will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the evening and use the school district’s automated telephone system, the school district Website at, KCSD Facebook page, and local media to keep the public informed.
