Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) held a moment of silence Monday in memory of a 16-year-old female student who committed suicide Friday. L-EHS offered counseling assistance to both students and staff.
Extra counseling resources are available through the Kershaw County School District’s (KCSD) Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant. Students are referred to clinical psychologists through school guidance counselors.
“We have provided additional counselors to help students and staff deal with a great tragedy,” KCSD Communications Director Mary Anne Byrd said.
