NCLB waiver to affect teacher evaluations
Frank Morgan-Nov. 2011
KCSD Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan spoke on the issue at the school board's most recent meeting.
A waiver of the South Carolina State Department of Education Elementary and Secondary Education Act, also known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB), will affect the way teachers and principals are evaluated in the state of South Carolina. An evaluation proposal released to school districts -- and subject to approval by the state education board and adoption of enabling legislation by the General Assembly -- projects a phase-in that would put the new teacher evaluation plan in effect across the state during the 2014-2015 school year. During the upcoming school year, 22 schools will get federal school improvement grants.
