Those paying close attention to Wednesday’s real estate listings may have been surprised to see what looked like the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) spending $3,178,850 for its new district offices on U.S. 1 (DeKalb Street) in Camden instead of the $1.25 million first reported. A look at the actual real estate contract between the district and PrimeRealty Group, however, shows that the $3.18 million amount is the tax assessed value of the property. According to the contract, PrimeRealty Group has donated an estimated $1.93 million to the school district, including $500,000 for the district’s current office building on DuBose Court.
