Trustees honor perfect SCPASS, ACT Aspire scorers
Perfect Scores
The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees honored 18 students during its Nov. 17 meeting for earning perfect scores on standardized tests given this spring. Camden Middle School student Brianna Vergara (front row, center) was the only district student to earn a perfect score on at least one section of SCPASS, given in grades 4 through 8. Brianna also, along with the other 17 students each earned perfect scores on at least one section of the ACT Aspire test given for the first time in the spring for grades 3 through 8. A proposed 2016-17 school year calendar for the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) would have students return to classrooms on Aug. 15, the earliest date possible under state law. Derrick Stanley and Scott Sutton, representing the district’s 28-member calendar committee, and KCSD Director of Communication Mary Anne Byrd, presented the proposed calendar to the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees during its Nov. 17 meeting. The committee started its work on next school year’s calendar just barely a month after students returned to classes for this school year.
