NCMS-Boys and Girls Book Clubs-boys.JPG

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at North Central Middle School who love to read share their interest through reading clubs. The boys club is sponsored by library media specialist Cindy Sparks and Ryan Anderson, school resource officer and a Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The boys club includes (from left, seated) Dennis Shumate, Calvin Dash, Isaiah Fowler, Robert Hilton, Bryce Bell, (standing) Chance Mangum, adviser Anderson, Christian Gooding and adviser Sparks. The boys read “Storm Runners” by Roland Smith during the first semester. Sparks, sixth-grade English teacher Terri Bowers and assistant librarian Jennifer Gibson are advisers for the girls club. Members of the club include (from left, seated) Summer Wooten, Laken Grainger, Bree Anderson, Callie Wooten, Elena Baskin, Breanna Bowen, Felicia McGill, (standing) adviser Sparks, Makayla Peebles, Kimmie Peebles, Amy Outen, Breanna Lee, Lauren Feeley, Gretta West, Elise Silleman, Alyssa Lavernge and adviser Bowers. The girls are reading “Waiting for Normal” by Leslie Connor. The club meetings are held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. each Wednesday in the library. The club members wear Page Turners Club bracelets and have official membership cards. They enjoy an afterschool snack and a written activity along with an opportunity to win door prizes each week.
