The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees received a preliminary look at the Kershaw County School District’s (KCSD) proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year during its April 5 meeting at Jackson Elementary School. The balanced $77.9 million budget reflects a 3.4 percent increase compared to the current 2015-16 budget. KCSD Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan and CFO Donnie Wilson said the budget is a “barebones maintenance of effort budget,” primarily due to less than anticipated state funding for education, despite $1.3 billion in excess state revenue.
