“Our goal is to get away from ‘approaching’… to ‘meets’ and ‘exceeds’ (expectations).” That was Kershaw County School District (KCSD) Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins’ challenge to the school district after members of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees heard a report on S.C. READY test scores on Tuesday night. KCSD Director for K-12 Education Tim Hopkins and Director for Student Assessment Lavoy Carter made the presentation that showed while some grades from 3 through 8 tested above the state average, other grades did not in English-Language Arts (ELA) and/or or math.
