School board meets tonight

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees will meet tonight beginning at 6 p.m. in the board room at the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) offices, 2029 West DeKalb St., Camden. The meeting will begin with recognitions of student athletes and history bee competitors. The board will then: • hear a report on the district’s website and other electronic communication efforts during the 2016-17 school year; • receive a report on preparations for the opening of the 2017-18 school year; • hear an update on referenda-approved construction projects; • discuss, and possibly vote on, a revision to the district’s Community Use of School Facilities policy to read that renting entities should show proof of liability insurance or sign a “hold harmless” letter; • hear further summaries of portions of a recent district-wide all-employee survey; and • have a discussion about Kershaw County’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget, as recently passed on third and final reading by Kershaw County Council.
