School board to continue discussing referenda language

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees will continue its discussion on the actual language to be written into a proposed $138.8 million bond construction during its meeting tonight at Camden Elementary School (CES). Trustees will also discuss language to be used in a referendum to create a 1-cent sales tax to offset a 40-mil property tax increase to pay for the construction bond. Trustees received proposed wording for both referenda during the board’s April 19 meeting and asked their legal counsel whether there was any way to simplify the language further or to include plain language explanations on the ballot.
