School board to discuss PASS/HSAP scores

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees will discuss PASS/HSAP scores at its meeting set for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lugoff-Elgin High School.

The board will discuss changes made to the 2014 PASS, and the decline in the number of students scoring “Met” and higher in English and mathematics. Discussion of a full implementation of new standards will also be acknowledged.

The 2013-2014 test scores will be analyzed and compared with the scores in other districts. A detailed plan on how to improve those scores will be demonstrated. 

The board will also acknowledge students who made perfect PASS scores.

Also on the agenda are a discussion of a proposal for a one-school year pilot that will implement gifted programs for private and home schooled 3rd through 12th grade students on a space available basis.

Trustees will also take up a facility rental request for a dance program at Midway Elementary School.

An executive session is also listed on Tuesday’s agenda.
