Loud cheers and happy tears greeted Kershaw County School District (KCSD) Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan’s announcement Thursday evening of the 2016 KCSD Teacher of the Year: Craig H. Jelks, an 8th Grade social studies teacher from Leslie M. Stover Middle School (LSMS). Even before Morgan called out Jelks’ name, the people filling Camden High School’s (CHS) auditorium might have had a sense it would be him. “Our judges had these comments to make about the teacher they selected as Kershaw County’s Teacher of the Year: This teacher is very dynamic and has a genuine concern for students’ futures.
