For the 21st year, Upchurch & Jowers and the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) inducted the brightest seniors from Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central high schools onto the All-County Academic Team. The annual banquet, held Monday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church’s Westminster Hall, drew more than 100 parents, family members, district officials, Upchurch & Jowers staff to celebrate the addition of 31 students -- 10 each from Camden and North Central high schools and 11 from Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS). The tradition started in 1996 when Victor Jowers decided if the media and community could celebrate the achievements of the district’s top athletes, it should do the same for the district’s top academically achieving students.
